Summary of Florida Local Government Internet Consortium

• Mission of the Consortium is to provide a single, seamless access portal and search engine for local services and specific local linkages.
• Local government Internet portal is www.MyFloridaCounty.com .
• Consortium's intent is to collaboratively work with the state governmental portal,www.MyFlorida.com, to provide citizens a "one click, one door" approach to both state and local governmental services. For example, being able to pay outstanding parking/traffic citations (local service) when renewing motor vehicle tag (state service).
• All 67 "MyFloridaCounty.com" domain names have been purchased (i.e. MyLeonCounty.com).
• "Founding organizers" of the Consortium are the Florida Association of Court Clerks, Inc. and the Florida Tax Collectors, Inc. Why these two groups initiating local portal partnership? The Clerks of the Court and the Tax Collectors handle approximately 90% of all local transactional services (i.e. payment is required).
• Consortium membership is open to county governments, local county political subdivision constitutional officers, municipalities, independent special purpose local government and regional entities and water management districts. Consortium will actively pursue membership and involvement with the deployment of the local government portal.
• Based on the Consortium's objective of emphasizing statewide services as a gateway to local services, the homepage of MyFloridaCounty.com will be structured on a tiered priority approach: (1) statewide central services, (2) MyCounty single portal linkages, and (3) specific county offices and service linkages.
• Initial local government services/applications accessible through MyFloridaCounty.com will include: (1) official records index search and ordering, (2) child support payment and inquiry access, and (3) traffic citation payment.
