Internships

Download the PDF brochure.

At ITFlorida, our interns are a valuable resource. Interns are given substantive research and writing assignments in one or more of ITFlorida's major policy areas. These include IT workforce, telecommunications policy, tax policy, and economic development (for a complete list, see www.itflorida.com/policy).

Along with tracking and analyzing policy, there are ample opportunities for attending Legislative hearings and meeting with key governmental figures. In addition, as a final project in their assigned area, all interns are asked to create and present an original proposal for new ITFlorida action. These are not ideas simply put on a shelf. Several of these projects have been implemented in the past.

Term
ITFlorida offers internships throughout the year. Spring terms typically run January-May, Summer terms June-August, and Fall terms September-December.

Academic Credit
ITFlorida has strong relationships with the colleges and universities in Florida and awards academic credit (typically 3 semester hours) for a one-semester internship.

Location
ITFlorida is headquartered in Tallahassee but allows its interns to work remotely. Since ITFlorida's events take place throughout the state, interns usually have opportunities to attend events in their area, while conducting research and writing from their home college.

Requirements
ITFlorida accepts interns from all backgrounds and degree programs. Strong writing and research skills are a must, as is an interest in technology policy. Interns should be computer-literate and Internet-savvy.
